NDB's emphasis on community and diversity creates an inclusive environment for students. Whether it is through celebrating heritage months, serving a culture-inspired lunch, discussing various cultures in the classroom, or acknowledging our land before an assembly, I can see and appreciate the focus on DEI. As a Muslim from Pakistan, I feel accepted at NDB, and this encouragement to talk about my faith and culture gives me the confidence to share with not only with people within this community but also outside it.

As a Vietnamese student at NDB, I'm grateful to be part of a high school that truly values diversity, equity and inclusion. Notre Dame isn't just a school; it's a community that stands out for its kind and judgment-free atmosphere. In a world where inclusivity can be rare, being a part of this environment is amazing. I truly feel that NDB provides a space where every student can grow, regardless of their background.

Notre Dame is a supportive community for all its students, and everyone is very respectful and kind to each other. When I first came to NDB, I was surprised with how inclusive and accepting my teachers were! They truly care for every student. Teachers and fellow students helped make me feel safe as an LGBTQ+ person in a new environment. Now I hope to give back to this community by offering the Rainbow Club as a safe space for LGBTQ+ students and allies to celebrate our identities and diversity.

Rainbow Club and Intersectional Feminism Club

Started and ran by students and for students, the Rainbow Club and the Intersectional Feminism Club provide a platform for students to discuss pertinent topics, create solutions and celebrate diversity.

Lunar New Year

Students celebrated the beginning of the Year of the Dragon with table top games, calligraphy and prizes! Some of the most competitive games involved races using chopsticks to pick up tictacs, and guessing different fruit juices. Students also got to see cultural garb and hear about their classmates favorite ways to bring in the Lunar New Year!

Diwali

The I am Diverse Club holds an annual Diwali celebration. Students come together to eat gulab jamun, paint diyas, listen to music and learn all about the festival of lights. Notre Dame also placed a rangoli in the front of school to bring prosperity and good luck by welcoming the Hindu goddess, Lakshmi!
